Slow Cooker Pot Roast is one of my favorite comfort food recipes to make because not only is it a hearty dish that fills my heart whole, but it is filled with flavors that everyone in my house enjoys eating.

Over the last few months, I’ve turned my kitchen around and have really focused on cooking with whole ingredients. You know, real food! It’s not always easy to follow when I am out at a restaurant, but when I’m in my own kitchen, I make sure I serve my family recipes that use only the basics.
And who doesn’t love to use their crockpot? I am a sucker for an easy recipe that I can just place on my counter and forget for a few hours. This crock pot beef pot roast recipe is something I turn to time and time again.

Do you have to brown a roast before putting it in the crockpot?
You don’t have to brown a roast before putting it into the crockpot, but it will add more flavor if you do. If you have the time, consider taking a few extra minutes to brown your meat before setting it aside for a few hours to slow cook. But remember, this isn’t necessary.
How Long To A Cook Roast In A Crock Pot?
- Low Setting – You should cook your roast for 8 to 10 hours.
- High Setting – You should cook your roast for 4 to 6 hours.
As a note, if you have the time, it’s best to cook your roast on the low setting because your meat will be more tender this way.
What To Serve With Your Pot Roast
If you’d like to make vegetables with your pot roast, consider roasting potatoes, carrots, and onions. You could also cook these vegetables alongside your roast in your slow cooker if you have space. Simply, layer your vegetables OVER your meat and then pour some beef broth or tomato sauce over the top. Top with seasoning and then cook as usual.
