How to make a slow cooker ham
Add ham to a slow cooker. Place the lid on the slow cooker and heat on low for 5-6 hours. If the lid won’t fit onto the slow cooker, tightly wrap the top with foil.
In a small sauce pan, combine peach preserves, brown sugar, mustard and ginger.
Mix well and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until bubbly and sugar are dissolved – about 2 minutes.
Let stand for 5 minutes. Spoon glaze over ham and serve immediately.
Tips For Removing The Ham From The Slow Cooker
The hardest part of this recipe is removing the ham from the slow cooker. It’s big, it’s hot and it’s slippery!
Here is a little tip. Try to remove the juice with a turkey baster first. Then put on silicone hot pads and lift the ham out from your slow cooker. It will come out in one piece without a fight.
Tips For Crock Pot Han
- Make sure that you can fit whatever piece of meat you are bringing into your home. Your crockpot might not be big enough for your cut. The lid might not shut.
- If this is the case, you could always use tinfoil to cover up your slow cooker in a pinch.
- You don’t want a boneless ham for this recipe.
- Keep your glaze! You will definitely want to use that as an add-on during dinner. You can always simmer it down to thicken it up.
- If you aren’t a fan of peach or ginger, consider subbing in pineapple.
- Fresh herbs make all the difference.
- Most hams come with a glaze packet that you could technically use while slow cooking, but consider the glaze option mentioned above instead. It will offer a richer profile to enjoy!
- When it comes to ham serving sizes, you will need about 1/2 pound of boneless ham per person or 3/4 pound bone-in ham per person. Keep this in mind.
Reheating Leftovers
It’s really easy to reheat these leftovers. All you have to do is place the pieces you’d like to reheat on a pan, cover it with a bit of foil, and warm up your dish in a 275-degree oven.
