Birthday Layer
- 1/2 cup, 1 stick butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles, plus more for the top
Brownie Layer
- 5 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup flour
How To Decorate Brownies For A Birthday
Step 1 – Preheat oven to 350 and line an 8×8 pan with aluminum foil. Spray foil with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
Step 2 – (Birthday Layer) Melt butter and let cool slightly. Add sugar, vanilla and egg and mix well. Add flour, salt and baking powder and mix until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips and sprinkles.
Step 3 – (Birthday Layer) Divide batter in half and spread a thin layer onto the bottom of the pan with the back of a spoon. Set aside.
Step 4 – (Brownie Layer) Combine melted butter, sugar, egg and vanilla in a bowl and mix well by hand. Fold in cocoa powder and flour and mix just until combined. Pour batter on top of birthday layer in pan and spread evenly.
Step 5 – (Brownie Layer) With reserved birthday layer, add dollops of batter and spread on top of the brownie layer.
Step 6 – (Brownie Layer) Sprinkle with additional sprinkles. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until edges are browned and center is set. Cool in pain until ready to serve. Slice into bars and serve.
Tips and Variations
