It’s not necessarily a new trend, but jump roping has been taking the Internet by storm this year and you will find thousands of people documenting their process and showing off their Jump Rope challenge results on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Does it really work?
With a 30 minute HIIT workout, you can expect to burn around 300-450 calories depending on your weight. For someone who might not have access to a gym, online apps, or at-home pricey equipment – this is incredible news. Besides being a really affordable way for someone to stay fit, it’s also portable, lightweight, and really easy to figure out how to do.
Benefits To Participating In The Jump Rope Challenge
- It’s cheap
- You can workout anywhere
- It’s lightweight
- You can start exercising at any time of the day
- You don’t need wifi to participate
- No monthly fees to worry about
How Does It Work?
Typically, you choose a timeline – 7 days, 2 weeks, or 30 days. For each day, you should commit to 1000 jumps a day.
Variations – If you’d like to work in some variations, I’ve seen some YouTubers add an additional 100 jumps after the first week. So, once you’ve completed the first week of your jump rope challenge, you can go ahead and add 100 jumps every single day moving forward. That’s entirely up to you.
Things To Expect
- It’s not for everyone. You might hate it.
- You will feel a massive burn and that’s normal.
- Expect more defined calves at the end.
- You won’t be able to jump consistently in a row and that’s ok. It will come.
- It’s a bit boring.
- Day 1 – you won’t be able to breathe. That’s also normal.
- You might lose weight, but it’s more about definition.
How To Pass The Time
If you find the jumping rather boring, there are things you can do to pass the time. Grab a friend and make sure you always have a partner to chat with during the 20-30 minute exercise. Listen to a podcast or put on your favorite music. Or, if you have space in your living room, set up in front of your television and watch your favorite show while exercising.
Typical Jumprope Challenge Results
While researching, I found that most people – on average – lost several inches after one week of jump roping. It wasn’t really about weight loss as it was about toning up. You will find a number of personal accounts linked to this blog post for your review. Everyone had a different end result to share because everyone committed at a different level.
If You Want Better Results You Need More Time
It goes without being said… 7 days really isn’t enough time for anyone to truly transform. If you want to see real results, you need to put in the time. If you are ready to commit to something and want to see real jump rope challenge results, then give yourself more time. You can do it!!
In 10 weeks, just look at all of the fat burned and the inches lost in the transformation video above! Dedication and commitment produce results. Truth be told, after watching his video, I bought a rope (see below)!
Discomfort And Self Care
A lot of jump rope lovers noted that their joints and feet were sore after jumping for a prolonged period of time. So, make sure you have the proper shoes and listen to your body.

What About Cordless Jump Ropes?
This cordless jump rope is perfect for people who are just getting started or who want to focus on working out in their homes. Not only does it track exactly how many turns the ropes have made, but it also can time your workout.
Using this cordless style allows you to comfortably work out in small spaces as opposed to the larger, original style making this a great option for apartment/city dwellers who don’t have access to private outside spaces.
