How To Make Homemade Whipped Cream

In order to make DIY whipped cream, you only need two ingredients – heavy whipping cream and white sugar. With a mixer and a bit of time, you can create a delicious homemade whip that works perfectly for pies, trifles, cheesecakes, cupcakes, and more. In fact, I just used this exact recipe on my black forest cupcakes! Take a look.

Ingredients For Homemade Whipped Topping

  • 1-1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • OPTIONAL: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make DIY Whipped Cream

In a chilled mixing bowl (just place your bowl in the freezer for 10 minutes – that will do), add heavy whipping cream and sugar. Beat well until mixture is stiff. Place into a piping bag fitted with a 1M tip. Pipe topping onto your dessert and enjoy!

Store any unused portion in an airtight container for up to 10 hours. When you are ready to use that portion again, give it another whisk just to add a little live back into the mixture.

A Note About The Vanilla Extract

I personally do not put vanilla extract in my topping, but my family DOES. So, I wanted to put that as part of this recipe and give you the option to add it. Please try it both ways and see which you like best.
