Happy Birthday To My Best Friend

Happy Birthday my dear friend! That’s right – It’s my best friend’s birthday today and I wanted to do something special for her. Audrey and I don’t live near one another. So, I can’t really visit her and take her out to lunch.

I can’t pop over to her house with her favorite coffee in my hand. I wish it were that simple, but life placed us in different states and so we have to deal with things as they are.

My best friend’s birthday is a big deal regardless, right? So, I thought this post would be a small way for me to let her know that she means the world to me and then some. There are so many reasons why I love my best friend. I think it’s time I tell her why!

Although many people think we are very much alike, that couldn’t be further from the truth. We are total opposites. She is Kardashian and I am zombie apocalypse.

She is “rainbows and unicorns” and I am “that sweet little grandma on the corner is actually a trained assassin in disguise”. Like I said – ying and yang.

But I think that’s what makes the two of us work. Because you know what they say – opposites attract. So, this post is truly a letter to my best friend – happy birthday my dear friend.

But none of that matters because when you have two women who are passionate about the same things and who love to laugh – it makes for the perfect partnership.

Audrey is truly a blessing. A gift. She is the best friend that any girl could hope for and I PRAY that she thinks the same about me. LOL

From Permission to Hustle to opening up to one another about the struggles of motherhood to secretly opening up about our marriages – this girl is my confidant.

As an only child, you need another woman to open up to and Audrey is IT for me. Audrey has a wonderful sister and she also has several amazing sisters-in-law. She is surrounded by incredible women. I am lucky enough to fit into her fold.

Whether we are traveling the world, heading to Disney, grabbing a late night bite, or spending time surrounded by the people we love, it’s always a great time.

I hope she is spending the day drowning in Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. I hope her face is covered in powdery sugar from overindulging in munchkins. I hope her arms are discolored from an awful spray tan.

I hope she is deeply submerged into a raunchy romance novel. I hope her husband makes his famous lasagna. I hope her kids make their beds. Ahhh… who am I kidding? That last one is too much to ask for anyone!

I hope this year gave Audrey everything she hoped for. When I turned 41, I learned quite a few things. Yes, she’s younger than me. Whatevs.

I hope she rests and enjoys the sunshine. I hope they make it to the beach after dinner so she can feel the sand between her toes and I hope those toes have a fresh pedicure.

But most of all, I hope she finds joy today – all day. I hope she laughs and feels the lightness and sees all that God gave her in her life. Because Audrey has a beautiful life.

We all get thrown some curveballs. I won’t sit here and pretend it’s all perfect, but it certainly is beautiful. And it is all her own.

So, Happy Birthday my dear friend! Happy birthday, Audrey! I love you even though you won’t sit with me at the roulette table whenever we go away. Even though you make me watch the stupidest shows when we stay overnight together in a hotel room. Even though you order food for breakfast and then never eat it.

I love you and am so thankful for your friendship. I am a better person because of it and I truly do believe that.
