Slow Cooker Applesauce Recipe

This slow cooker applesauce recipe is so unbelievably delicious BUT at the same time, it’s incredibly easy to make. Isn’t that the combination all us at-home cooks crave? Sweet enough to satisfy our cravings but a healthy alternative to other desserts the kids typically reach for.

You can always adjust the amount of sugar you add to this recipe to your liking. Better yet, try omitting it completely if you’d like! Apples are naturally sweet on their own!

Personally, this version works best for my family.  I love using my slow cooker. It’s one of my favorite kitchen tools EVER.

In fact, I’m purchasing one for my younger cousin for Christmas and I’m thinking of printing her out all of the slow cooker recipes I’ve posted to DATE on Lady and the Blog. Just to help her get started on her culinary adventures!!!

Give the below slow cooker applesauce recipe a shot the first time around and then make your adjustments the second or third time.

In case you are wondering about the SIZE of apples that were used for this recipe, they were medium sized. Some people refer to them as “lunchbox apples” if that term is familiar to you. I would not call the apples that were used GIANT by any means. Average at best.

Slow Cooker Applesauce Recipe Ingredients:

  • 12 apples
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Slow Cooker Applesauce Recipe Directions:

Peel, core and chop apples. Place into slow cooker. Add brown sugar and cinnamon and mix. Add water and mix well.

Heat in the slow cooker on high, 3-4 hours, stirring every hour.

When apples are mushy, mix well and serve warm or cold. Store in small, 4oz mason jars or in an airtight container in the fridge.

Makes 6, 1/2 cup servings.

I told you that this recipe was a breeze!! I do want to note that this slow cooker recipe requires you to be around and stir the mixture every hour. So, it’s not something you want to make when you aren’t going to be around. But it’s OH so WORTH IT.
