Daily Diary: Memorial Day Weekend Festivities

We had a great weekend – totally relaxing and local. I’m taking a lot of time off and I think I’ve never been happier! Reconnecting with family and friends and completely slowing down. I like the pace. I like the quiet. I am a two-sided coin, that’s for sure. For now, I’m on the side that just wants to sit on the couch and be still.

We had a birthday party this weekend and it was at a local amusement park. The kids had the time of their lives. Even while we were racing around trying to get on all the rides, it still felt easy because it wasn’t Disney! A five minute wait and no plane rides. WOOT! I will take it. I completely enjoyed watching my babies laugh and run and hold hands with their friends as they skipped to the next adventure. It was just perfect.

Then we spent a day cleaning our backyard. The kids put on their suits and kept occupied while my husband power-washed…everything. He was OBSESSED. I mean, completely obsessed. Wouldn’t let me TRY IT! Bill stayed outside for four hours. I eventually had to pull him into the house!!  But our backyard is cleaner than when we purchased the house seven years ago — I will tell you that!

Friends had us over for a BBQ which was a total treat. Super low key and easy. Kids were beyond thrilled with the bouncy house.

Finally, we hosted my family on Monday — BBQ and birthday cake. My mom’s birthday was last week. So, we all got together for some fun. Of course we made way too much food. That’s my way. We have leftovers for DAYS.

Today, I’m just on the couch – as planned. Thinking about going for a walk in a bit. But I have a lot of work to catch up on. Hopefully, I can muster up the willpower to get outside and get a mile in! Doubt it – but it would be nice!! 🙂

What is Arbor Day?

Arbor Day is a holiday that is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day to show appreciation for trees and to promote tree planting. Many people celebrate Arbor Day by planting trees, donating to tree-planting charities, or volunteering at tree-planting events. Some schools even have special Arbor Day celebrations where students learn about the importance of trees and take part in tree-planting activities.
