To make chocolate chip cookies with cake mix, all you really need is a yellow cake mix box, vegetable oil, chocolate chips, and a few eggs. Of course, if you’d like to spruce up your cookie bars, you can do that and make this recipe your own! But the base is easy enough.

How To Make Chocolate Chip Cookies With Cake Mix

The reason why I love to make cake mix cookie bars is that you don’t have to worry about balling out individual-sized cookies! This means that prep for this dessert takes less than 5 minutes. Once you mix all the ingredients together, you simply place everything into a prepared dish and bake.

Then you can top with whatever you’d like – like a dollop of Cool Whip or a scoop of ice cream! Or you can serve it like a traditionalist and hand out the goods with nothing on it at all. By the way, this is how I like to eat this special treat.

Tips and Variations

  • Consider using other cake mix flavors besides yellow. Chocolate, red velvet, lemon … even birthday cake will do!
  • The cookie bar thickness depends on how large of a baking dish you use. Choose accordingly. You will also need to slightly adjust your cooking time based on the dish you use.
