If your child is potty training and you are struggling to get through the night without accidents, here are some helpful tips.
Night Time Potty Training Tips
- Set a regular bedtime routine and stick to it as much as possible. A bath, followed by some quiet play time or reading, and then into bed will help your child wind down and be more likely to stay dry through the night.
- Limit fluids in the evening, especially close to bedtime. Too much fluid before bed can mean more trips to the bathroom during the night.
- Encourage your child to use the bathroom right before bedtime. This way they will (hopefully) wake up with a dry diaper and be less likely to have an accident overnight.
- Put a potty chair or toilet next to your child’s bed so they can easily get to it if they need to go during the night.
- Try using an overnight diaper or pull-up that is designed to hold more urine, such as GoodNites Bedwetting Underwear for Boys or Girls. These can be helpful in giving your child some extra protection against nighttime accidents.
With a little patience and effort, you should be able to help your child stay dry through the night!
What is the average age for night potty training?
Most children are able to stay dry through the night by around age 5 or 6. However, some children may not be ready or may struggle with nighttime potty training for longer. If you are having difficulty getting your child to stay dry overnight, talk to your pediatrician for advice and assistance.
Should I wake my child up at night to pee?
It is generally not necessary to wake your child up at night to use the bathroom. If your child is having accidents overnight, try limiting fluids in the evening and encourage them to use the bathroom right before bedtime. You may also want to put a potty chair or toilet next to your child’s bed so they can easily get to it if they need to go during the night.
Do pull-ups encourage bedwetting?
Pull-ups are not generally thought to encourage bedwetting. However, some children may feel like they can wet their pull-ups without consequences, which can lead to more accidents. If you think your child is using their pull-ups as a way to wet the bed, talk to your pediatrician for advice.
How do I know if my child is ready for night potty training?
There is no one definitive answer to this question. Every child is different and will reach readiness for nighttime potty training at their own pace. However, most children are typically able to stay dry through the night by around age 5 or 6. If you are having difficulty getting your child to stay dry overnight, talk to your pediatrician for advice

If you have a bureau filled with jewelery boxes like me, and your husband feels like his bedroom is an adult Claire's store, you might like this too. I cannot wait to have clean bureau tops. Now, about the pics, I am so shy!

Thanks for posting, Vera. This evening I finally got around to filling up the shoe organizers I bought. It's a nice feeling having less clutter on the closet floor!

I did lose weight CapturingLife! I lost 3 pounds and actually my thighs look a lot better. So I'm pretty happy. Still not totally ready for the flipping beach - but it's MUCH better. I only gain in two areas so three pounds is a BIG deal for me. HUGE difference. :)
Going to the gym about three times a week and trying not to drink caloric drinks (im a sucker for a snapple)
