I am a beauty fanatic! You know that. I know that. The good people over at American Express know that. I can’t help it. I am a woman that loves lotions and potions. But sometimes you don’t have to leave your house to enjoy a little pampering. Sometimes, all you have to do is open up your pantry and get creative.
Delta Faucet asked me to get messy in my kitchen and come up with two DIY recipes that my readers would enjoy. I JUMPED at the chance. Not only do I love to make at-home hand scrubs but I absolutely NEED to use them. I have the driest skin. If I am in a pinch, I know I am always just a few minutes away from a great, all-natural product that cost me under $1 to make.
How To: DIY Sugar Scrub
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 5-7 drops of essential oil (I used Eucalyptus)
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix with your hands. Gently scrub your hands and arms as needed. Rinse thoroughly.
How To: DIY Oatmeal and Honey Face Mask
Ready for my second recipe? I suffer from a wide variety of skin issues – including rosacea. For my face, I always have to make sure that I opt for masks that are calming and soothing. Here’s a great mask to consider:
Oatmeal can soften and moisturize your skin. Keep this beauty secret in the back of your mind. Consider taking an oatmeal bath as well!!
- 1 packet of instant oatmeal (cook as directed and let cool)
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- a small bowl of honey
Cook your instant oatmeal according to the package’s instructions. You can use either milk or water. That’s entirely up to your preference. Allow to cool completely. Mix in 1 teaspoon of honey.
Meanwhile, take a small bowl of honey and apply a thin layer to your clean face. Then apply your oatmeal mask. Allow to sit for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to find some place to rest and relax while the properties are working their wonder! Rinse thoroughly with water and washcloth.
