Chocolate Monkey Bread

Chocolate Monkey Bread Recipe

I’m actually a huge fan of monkey bread recipes because the children can actually assemble them without much help from my part. The Pillsbury dough is pretty much done for us and all we really need to do is add our customized flavor.

In this instance, we are focusing on chocolate. However, in the past, I’ve featured a Pineapple Upside Down Monkey Bread Recipe that is divine as well as a Christmas Monkey Bread Recipe that is fun for around the holidays.

I hope you check those two out when you get a chance.

Monkey bread recipes usually call for a lot of sugar and cinnamon and this one will do the same even though it has a chocolate spin. A monkey bread recipe just wouldn’t be the same without its core ingredients.

In a small bowl, combine the sugar and the cinnamon and mix. Set aside. Take each piece of the cut Pillsbury dough and flatten it out so that you can add in the chocolate chips.  Add in about 3 chips per doughball.

Roll each piece into a ball and set aside until all pieces are done.

ziploc bag with monkey bread

Add into the Ziploc bag with the sugar and cinnamon. Shake bag until all pieces are coated. Spray pan with Pam spray until coated and place the biscuits into the pan.

In a small saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar. Mix until melted and combined.  Pour into pan with biscuits. Place the pan into the oven and bake for 40 minutes.

When the timer goes off, don’t worry! The center will still be jiggly.

Let sit for 5 minutes before placing the serving plate on top of the pan and flipping the pan. Lightly tap the sides of the pan to loosen the chocolate monkey bread.

Once the chocolate chip monkey bread is out and onto the plate, drizzle extra caramel sauce and chocolate chips as a topping and serve.

Can I Add Nuts To This Pillsbury Monkey Bread?

Absolutely! We love variations! If you’d like to add variations to this Pillsbury Monkey bread, consider 1/3 cup of your favorite kind finely chopped. That will add an additional crunch to the bread and give it a different taste entirely.

But many people like the taste of nuts and chocolate together. If you do, please feel free to make this recipe your own!
