Southern Pecan Praline Sheet Cake Recipe

Denser than my strawberry Jell-O cake and just as rich as my white chocolate brownies but this dish has a southern flare. There’s something just so special about the combination of butter pecan and coconut because this dessert has a bit of the crunch thanks to the nuts mixed into the batter.

The yummy sauce topped with roasted pecans combined with the texture of the cake makes for a great cake that people won’t believe started from a boxed cake mix. The list of ingredients is simple. In fact, it’s a piece of cake! See what I did there?

Southern Praline Cake Ingredients:

Cake:

  • Betty Crocker Butter Pecan Cake Mix – The foundation of this recipe already starts off with a ton of flavor.
  • Betty Crocker Coconut Pecan Frosting – A must-have for this dish.
  • Eggs – Bring the eggs to room temperature before mixing.
  • Canola Oil – Sometimes when I’m in a pinch, I use vegetable oil or olive oil when I run out of Canola.
  • Half and half – If you don’t have half and half, you could use milk, but it won’t be as rich or creamy.
  • Chopped Pecans – You can’t make pecan pie without some chopped pecans.

Butter Pecan Glaze:

  • Sweetened Condensed Milk – I always make sure I keep a few cans on hand just in case I get inspired.
  • Butter – Let the butter soften before incorporating into your mixture.
  • Chopped Pecans – The pecans are needed in both the cake batter and the glaze. Be sure to set enough aside for both.
