Are you looking for information on where to stay in the Poconos Mountains? Planning a Poconos Getaway? You need to check out the Inn at Pocono Manor They say when you can’t beat it, join it.
This is the stance I am taking in regards to the massive amounts of snow that have been hitting New Yorkers in the last couple of weeks. I’m on a snowcation in the Poconos and am spending a weekend at the Inn at Pocono Manor. This is my first time embracing the white stuff. Usually, I stay out of its way and hibernate. This time is different.
Where To Stay In The Poconos Mountains – Poconos Getaway At Inn at Pocono Manor
We got in last night and we were super exhausted. More on that later. The Inn at Pocono Manor is a deliciously cozy resort that spans 3000 acres of land and has been open since 1902. It’s on the National Registry of Historic Places so it was quite a delight to stay there.
I love finding places like this – a place where not many people know about but some places you can’t wait to share. A total score! If you have a Poconos getaway coming up, don’t forget to search out this location.
The Inn at Pocono Manor Review
The Inn at Pocono Manor decor is exactly what you would imagine from an inn in the middle of snow country to look like. It’s intimate but roomy with lots of antique charm that makes you feel right at home.
My first thought when I entered was that people must love coming here for Christmas. Something about fireplaces and comfortable armchairs in the lobby just gave that away. Keep that in mind if you are looking for a nice, cozy spot – the perfect reservation for a romantic getaway in PA.
We were blown away by our room. Firstly, it rivals my New York apartment in size and charm (no offense, Brooklyn). There were 2 rooms and a bathroom. Because of the slanted ceilings, it felt very much like playing hide and seek in the attic as a child. If you’re coming with less than 3 kids, this room is the perfect size.
Equipped with 2 queen beds and a full sofa, the kids will have enough room to not be all over each other. The best part is that you can close to the door to the bedroom if you and the hubby want to hang out in the living room area after the kids are sleeping. This Poconos getaway will be an absolute treat for you! Such a beautiful Poconos Mountain resort.
Eating Dinner At The Exchange In The Poconos
After checking out our room and changing, we headed to dinner at The Exchange. I love that this restaurant is on the property so you can dress up a bit without piling on the layers. The property has several restaurants but this one is their best. Dinner was incredibly delicious.
The salmon was perfectly done and the mashed potatoes were a thing of gods. I also tried broccolini for the first time. It’s a kale/broccoli hybrid. Where are these in Brooklyn?! We didn’t have room for dessert so we took it up to our rooms. There’s nothing like eating warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream while wrapped in blankets after a hectic day.
Things To Remember While Weekend Getaways In PA
What, say ye, was my biggest mistake? Why was it hectic? Try leaving New York City at 2pm for a 2 hour drive to the Poconos. Try arriving at 6:30pm because of the horrendous traffic. If you’re not used to a regularly scheduled workday like me, let me clue you in to the fact that rush hour starts at 3pm. That was my biggest mistake.
If we had left half an hour earlier, it would have been better. So if you’re planning to go to the Poconos for the weekend, do yourself a favor and leave after your lunch break, especially if you’re traveling with kids.
Today, we did dog sledding for the first time and explored more of the Inn at Pocono Manor. Look out for my next post in which I fall madly in love with a huskie called Liddy and consider giving up Brooklyn to move in with her.
