Have you ever wanted to know how to hide a pregnancy before? I just read this morning that Kate Hudson is expecting a baby girl. She admitted that it was really HARD to hide her pregnancy – especially with all of those prying paparazzi eyes watching her every move.
We might not have TMZ banging down our doors, but we all know that grandma is eyeballing our waistlines during dinnertime! If you are not quite ready to announce your pregnancy to the world, I am going to show you a few great looks that will help keep your secret hidden a little bit longer.
How to hide a pregnancy is simple – oversized and flowing clothing that are still stylish and on trend. Let’s get right to it!
How To Hide A Pregnancy: The Baby Doll Tee
You have to search for shirts that intentionally flare out as soon as it hits the top of your waist – like this baby doll tee from Urban Outfitters. You can still wear skinny jeans, jeggings, or legging with this top.
No matter what you do, this moving shirt will be confusing on the eye. By the way, pro-mom tip – this shirt is also great to hide the post-baby bump. And when I say “post-baby” bump… I mean 12 years later. Real life example on me here.
How To Hide A Pregnancy: Multi-Layered And Detailed
So, this post is actually a little funny because all of the shirts that I am highlighting are pretty much the ones that I wear on a regular basis. This is how I hid my mid-region! LOL!
The secret is out! Ok, see this shirt from BB Dakota. It has two layers and lots of details. Get it in a size bigger than you normally would choose and wear it loosely.
How To Hide A Pregnancy: Flowy Shirt
Guys, seriously. I just ordered this one. I’m not pregnant. I swear!! This shirt is so FAB! You can wear it in the Spring, Summer and for most of the Fall. What a find!! The Mosaic Stripe Bell Sleeve Shirt from LOFT just works.
How To Hide A Pregnancy: The Deceptive Shirt
Look for shirts that confuse the eye. I love this piece from Forever 21! It is called the Surplice Top and has a drape-front design. Nobody will have any clue about what is going on under there.
This is exactly the kind of clothing you should be looking for. It’s drape-y and long and flowing. PERFECT to hide a pregnant belly. I know that the first trimester doesn’t always produce the biggest bumps, but you never know how your body will react.
I showed right away with baby number two and three and I didn’t want to tell anyone until I was absolutely ready because I had very high-risk pregnancies. I needed clothing like this in my wardrobe to help keep my secret until I was good and ready to face the world.
How To Hide A Pregnancy: Layers
Another contender for my actual wardrobe TODAY and I am NOT pregnant. I just like Cheetos and I don’t go to the gym. This off the shoulder look is a great pregnancy hider because it confuses the eye.
The boxy style pulls the fabric away from your body and keeps the shirt off of your small baby bump. This WAYF Gracie from Nordstrom is a must-have for women who are looking to hide their pregnancies for just a little bit longer.
So, do any of these work for you? Which do you prefer? When do you think you will be ready to announce? By the way, I am so happy for you! By the way, while you are waiting for that baby to bake, pick up this book written by my dear friend. You won’t be disappointed.
