You don’t need many ingredients to get this homemade biscuits and gravy recipe started. In fact, I would argue that the only item from my list below that you probably don’t have on hand is cream of tartar.

Homemade Biscuits and Gravy
Gravy Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground sausage
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Biscuit Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup milk

How To Make The Gravy
Cook sausage in a skillet until no longer pink. Drain grease and remove sausage from pan. Set aside.

Add flour, garlic powder, salt and pepper to skillet. Stir in 2 cups milk and whisk over medium heat until bubbly. Boil for 1 minute.

Reduce heat to low and stir in reserved sausage. Mix well until heated through.
How To Make The Biscuits
Preheat oven to 450 and grease a baking sheet. Set aside. Add flour, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt to a mixing bowl and mix well.

Stir in butter. Add milk and stir until no longer lumpy. Use a 3 tablespoon scoop to scoop biscuits onto prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until they begin to brown. Serve biscuits topped with hot gravy.
