I love to drink homemade hot vanilla chai tea latte and try to make it as often as I can whenever the craving hits because this drink is expensive at the coffee shop! Here’s everything you need to enjoy this flavorful treat at home.

Ingredients
As a note with the ingredients, feel free to double up some of the spices if you like them! This is a light version of vanilla chai tea, but if you like stronger flavors, make sure every spice is one teaspoon. But try this way first. 🙂
- 2 cups of water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 2 bags of black tea (or if you want extra flavoring – start off with Tazo chai tea)
- 1 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoons ground cinnamon (or 1 cinnamon stick) – more for topping at the end
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg

How To Make Homemade Hot Vanilla Chai Tea Latte
- In a small saucepan, bring your water, spices, and tea bag to a boil. Whisk together. Remove from heat and let settle. You must strain before pouring into a mug.
- Using the same saucepan (once clean), add the milk, and vanilla and heat on low until simmering. If you have a hand frother, it would help to make the foam, otherwise use a good ol’ whisk.
- Once your foam is to your liking, pour over your tea, sprinkle with cinnamon and enjoy!

I have a Copycat Starbucks Chai Tea Latte Recipe Made Dirty that I also make ALL THE TIME. This one is just two ingredients and is a REPLICA of the drink in the store.
This drink is the perfect pick me up after a hard morning of work and a little treat that makes me feel special without having to spend a lot of money. And that first sip feeling…. OOH so good.
