American Girl Holiday 2015: Grace Thomas, New Book, Holidays Giving, and More #Joy2EveryGirl #usies

American Girl Grace Thomas

As you know already, I am in full blown Christmas shopping mode. Black Friday sales were great and came early this year. Frenzy ensued and I am just about done already, which I absolutely love. I do not want to shop too close to the holidays. It gets me too manic. I have to just get it done.

One toy that is on my daughter’s list, and could very well be on every little girl’s list, this year is American Girl. The name alone just evokes beautiful, wholesome, great fun. The dolls, the stories, the books are all just about perfect…and a wonderful present to place under the tree.

Here’s what Natalie had to say about Grace Thomas:

This year, American Girl is rolling out a number of amazing new additions, just in time for you to pick something (or better yet all of it) up! First, and maybe most notable, American Girl released their 2015 Girl of the Year, Grace Thomas. Beautiful as always, and right up Natalie’s alley. She feel in love in a second and couldn’t get enough of Grace!

If that wasn’t enough, there’s the newest 1950s doll Maryellen Larkin, another gorgeous girl!! There’s even customizable dolls for every age, like Bitty Baby and Truly Me. They are both so great and now feature holiday-inspired sets and much more!!!

If you have a daughter the loves to cook and checks out cooking videos on YouTube all the time, then you will be super excited to hear about the line of baking accessories in partnership with Williams-Sonoma! Real-deal bakeware everything a budding baker could need to whip up cookies, cupcakes, madeleines, and more!!

As Natalie gets older and reading becomes more and more engrained into her life, the line of American Girl books become that much more important to her and to us. The newly released book set The Care and Keeping of Us is something Natalie and I read just about every day. It’s a go-to guide for parents and daughters that provides advice on how to get the conversation going on a range of adolescent issues in an easy and fun way. Let’s face it, anything that “takes the edge off” these discussions is a keeper for me…and for her.

If you’re luck Bill and I, you love tucking away some cute little toys, books, pens, whatever, into the kid’s stockings. It’s a great way to just give the kids a few more fun things to make them smile. Check out ten fabulous ideas for stocking stuffers right here!!

Last, but certainly not least, I wanted to mention that American Girl is launching several new charitable programs as part of its “Together We Make the Holidays” giving campaign in an effort to bring more joy and friendship to thousands of girls and their families in need this holiday season. What better way to celebrate the season of giving than helping others in need where you can?

Kicking off the season is American Girl’s “Get a Friend. Give a Friend” campaign. From November 6 to 30, American Girl will match any 18-inch doll purchase made online, in-store, or via phone with a second doll donation (up to 1,000 dolls each day). Working with the Children’s Hospital Association, the doll donation—worth nearly $3 million—will help bring comfort and cheer to thousands of young girls receiving care in any of the Association’s 200 U.S. member hospitals in approximately 50 states. This brings a tear to my eye. It’s just wonderful, there’s no one more deserving of this.

Additionally, with the help of generous, thoughtful girls across the country, American Girl is asking fans to continue to “bake a difference” through the company’s For Goodness, Bake! initiative in support of No Kid Hungry®, a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength®. From November 1 – December 31, American Girl will match dollar for dollar (up to $50,000) girls’ holiday bake sale proceeds to No Kid Hungry. Originally launched on January 1 to celebrate the 2015 Girl of the Year Grace, For Goodness, Bake! has raised more than $450,000—the equivalent of 4.5 million meals for hungry kids.

Last week, the brand announced a donation of dolls and books worth half a million dollars to benefit thousands of young girls via the following TODAY show nonprofit partners: Boys andGirls Club of America, Kids in Distressed Situations, Kids in Need Foundation, and National Head Start Association! How unbelievable is that?

Finally, to capture the magic and emotion of the season, fans are encouraged to share pictures and videos of their special American Girl holiday moments—from cute #usies (a counter trend to selfies) to photos of holiday fun—on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #Joy2EveryGirl.
