Homemade Gelato is easier to make than you may think! Cool and creamy, Italian Gelato is quickly gaining popularity in the states… and here are some delicious homemade gelato recipes that will show you why!
Gelato is so much better than ice cream – well, at least in my opinion. I wish there were more places that served fresh gelato in NY. We need to start a movement here people! Gelato is creamier than ice cream with a silkier texture. Gelato can be made in a variety of different flavors just like ice cream – but the smoothness can not be beaten.
What truly sets Italian Gelato apart from traditional ice cream are the ingredients. Authentic Gelato uses more milk and less cream than ice cream, while also leaving out egg yolks which are often used as a binder in ice cream. Italian Gelato also only uses about 4 to 9 percent butterfat compared to ice cream which is at least 14 percent.
Gelato – sheer happiness, bliss, joy, love, utter enjoyment. I can go on and on and on… but I much rather get right to the recipes.
Anyway, if you don’t want to wait for the gelato to come to you – you can make your very own batch at home. YUM! Here are some homemade gelato recipes that you MUST try out. Click on the titles below to pull up the complete recipe.
