I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House was such a great movie and it absolutely surprised me. I am someone that watches a horror movie every single night before she goes to sleep. I don’t know why. It’s just something that I do.
I tell my husband that it soothes me. Odd thing to say, isn’t it? But it’s true. For some reason, I believe that my life is in a good enough state as long as “those things” aren’t happening to me.
I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House On Netflix – Suspense Thriller
I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House is a new suspense thriller movie on Netflix that reads like poetry. Here is my full movie review as well as a recommendation.
Synopsis: A young live in nurse, Lily (Ruth Wilson), moves into a secluded old house to care for an elderly, reclusive horror novelist. But it seems the pair is not entirely alone. Now Streaming on Netflix. Stars Paula Prentiss, Anthony Perkins, Lily Saylor. Director Osgood Perkins.
I think I’ve watched the ghost story trailer for ‘I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House‘ on Netflix for three months in a row. THEN TODAY – THE MOVIE WAS FINALLY ONLINE. I had so much to do this morning, but I pushed it all to the side because I’ve literally been waiting to see this movie for all of 2017. Needless to say, it did not disappoint.
The movie plays like some sort of poem. Very fluid.
My Full Review
The script is almost beautiful… despite the horror it portrays. Don’t worry about too much blood and death, this movie really is more about suspense than it is about shock value. A slow burn that doesn’t have many jump scares if that is what you are worried about.
One more thing about the script before I push forward, I could literally make a thousand quote images based on some of the things I heard from the movie. One line after the next stood on its own. Art. Bravo to the men and women who poured their hearts into the fold. I feel like a woman wrote this – I guess I should just look that up…
Even the music is slightly always off-key in order to keep you constantly feeling uneasy. My heart raced just a little bit faster than usual for the entire score – start to finish. If you caught Hannibal on TV, it sort of resembled that feeling. Violins are out of tune and scraping in ways they shouldn’t… but in ways that make sense for the scene. Even pianos jumped in every now and then – same sort of vein. Confusing your senses.
I never like to give a spoiler. I never like to tell you the end. I only like to tell you whether you should waste your time or not. I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House is worth your time. Horror fans and thriller fans and those that are willing to take a chance of this genre but don’t really like the sight of blood should all watch this Netflix movie.
This is what all suspense movies should be – slow, steady, uneasy… a test if you will. How long will you watch before you take a breath? How long will you watch before you look away? How long will you watch before you realize that you never want it to end?
Now, I want to note, if you are someone who wants full frontal when it comes to horror – this isn’t for you. This movie is a mind f***. You are kept perpetually waiting for everything and nothing at the same time. Don’t expect demons and devils and blood-filled bathtubs. That is not the melody that you will hear. This is an entire movie based off of anticipation revolving around the meeting of Polly and how it will impact our leads.
Have you seen I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House? What did you think about it?
