Wrinkle In Time Red Carpet Premiere: What It Felt Like To Attend #WrinkleInTimeEvent #WrinkleInTime

Walking the red carpet for the Wrinkle in Time premiere was such an amazing experience. I’ve gone to other red carpet premieres before, but this one was extra special because I got to walk it with my best friend, Audrey McClelland. Yeah! We had so much fun getting ready for it all. I cannot get over all the action and excitement. I can still feel it buzzing in my brain and my soul. 🙂

Here’s a little recap of what the Wrinkle in Time experience was all about – start to finish.

The red carpet was actually… BLUE. I used to think that every premiere HAD to have a red carpet, but that’s just not the case. As you can see from all the imagery on the walls, it made sense that they went with this calmer colo. The tones were so perfect!

Of course, I have to talk about my dress first. I bought it from Bloomingdale’s for under $150 and I will wear it again and again and again. It’s the WAYF Only You Ruffle Wrap Dress and it comes in a variety of colors. I opted for black because I wasn’t sure about how serious the carpet was going to be, but this number comes in pink, beige, a rich red and more. LOTS of options – some of which retail for $85!! You cannot beat this dress.

I’ve been part of the press line before during my days of running ‘I’m Not Obsessed’ – my old celebrity gossip website. Usually, the line sets up as follows:

  • TV
  • Print
  • Radio
  • Internet
  • Bloggers (lol)

When I used to agree to attend these events as PRESS, I was practically last in line, but I still loved every second of it. Odds were by the time they get to the end of the line, the celebrities were ready to call it a day. But every now and then you would get someone willing to talk to the whole lot which was always a wonderful treat.

During the Wrinkle in Time event, I was a GUEST! I didn’t have to worry about fighting for an interview because I already did all of mine the day before. Such comfort in knowing that part of my job was taken care of. Instead, I leisurely walked the blue carpet with my friends and took lots of pictures.

And boy did we have fun. 😉

This trip, Audrey and I were lucky enough to get to spend some time with our online counterparts. Brandi and Amiyrah are two women who I love to support, watch,  lift and embrace. They truly represent everything I hope to bring to my industry space. So, to be able to walk the carpet with these ladies was an absolute treat.

In the end, the Wrinkle In Time red carpet experience was a quick one. You have to be able to stay as present as possible. I didn’t opt to do any Facebook Lives because if I did, I wouldn’t have been able to take these photos or film any video. Speaking of video – did you see this one?! Check out the carpet in FULL FORCE. YAHOO!

I’ve been spending a lot of time on YouTube and so I made it a priority to get some actual footage of the blue carpet. Hope you can get a little bit of the feel from this small clip.

Once the movie was over, we headed right into the after party. I love how they had some of the costumes on display. This dress was my favorite one. I love how there were written words all over it and in a variety of languages. I tried to steal it but it was bolted down and there were security gurads everywhere. Ok, just kidding about that last part. It only happened in my mind.

And while I am not the type to go up to a celebrity and ask for a picture, my partner in crime forced me to and I am quite glad that she did. I got to thank a few people for some of the lessons that I learned while interviewing them. I didn’t get a chance to see Oprah again. I will tell you all about that interview in due time. But …

When I asked for Ava’s picture… I began to SOB. Like uncontrollably. Even right now as I write this, my eyes are tearing up. This Earth is so blessed to have a soul like hers in such a place of power making an impact every single day of our lives.  She is truly trying to be the change. I cannot say this enough. Her energy is palpable and it feels like warm honey. I wish nothing but wonderful things for this woman. I hope to meet her again and to speak to her in the near future. Something inside of me says it will happen. I don’t know why, but I feel like our paths are meant to cross again. In due time…

Black Panther fans were all over this handsome devil who stood a good foot and a half above me. I was like, HHEEELLLOOOOOOO UUUPPP TTHHHEERREEE YOU ARE SO GORGEOUS OH MY GOODNESS CAN WE HAVE A PICTURE? PICTURE? PICTURE?

Winston Duke turned no one away. I know that some people like to know these things. He is a good egg. Took pictures with everyone and never looked bothered doing it. I also want to note that many members of the audience went up to Winston and did the Wakanda sign which I LOVED seeing.

Last but not least, we had the pleasure of telling Storm Reid how wonderful she was in the film.  Her interview is coming up – stay tuned. But note it right now –> look out for this one. She is gracious and kind and fiercely talented.

*Disney invited me to attend the red carpet premiere of A Wrinkle in Time in LA.  Travel and accommodation were covered. All opinions are my own.
