Forever 21 held a swanky little shindig to preview their Fall 2011 line in New York this week.
The first thing that jumped out at me was the Bohemian theme. From oversized hats to browns and beiges, the boho-chic trend will be back in full force. Most of the models wore leggings or boots up to their thighs or knees. One wore black knee-highs with slouchy boots.
Oversized clothing worn over smaller proportions also seems to be a huge trend. Large cardigans were thrown over shorts and tees, for an interestingly balanced look.
Another trend of Spring that will carry over to Fall is feathers. Tucked into hats or headbands, this easy-to-do look is temporary and fun. I’ve even seen girls with feathers in their hair.
If you have the fashion attention span of a toddler, you can try this out without a full-on commitment by tucking a feather into a headband, pushed onto the forehead.
If you’re loving the socks and boots with skirts look, get ready for more of it. Paired in moody black and white, this look is feminine with a tomboyish feel to it. Worn with a fitted blouse, this is great for layering pieces.
I am loving the new lace leggings that are part of the emphasis on vintage. Worn with soft pinks and beiges, these clothes are reminiscent of girly days. Sandals and stockings are also still raging on.
My absolute favorite look for Fall has to be the bohemian one. I missed the seventies (I wasn’t even born yet) and can’t wait to re-live them, come colder days. I also love the feather trend. My favorite way to wear them are in earrings in a bold color. They add a pop of wow to your face.
