Shouldn’t Memorial Day signify the official START of summer? I think it should. I mean, isn’t that the first real BBQ of the season? My family attended a big one over the weekend and we had SUCH a great time with 150 of our closest friends. Oh yes – my town does everything big. There’s no intimate gatherings here. None at all.
It almost seems like everyone owns a holiday. And everyone makes sure that they throw a HUGE bash on their assigned date. Bill and I own Christmas. We have a Christmas BBQ and it’s almost like a college party. On the invitation, I tell everyone to either bring their favorite dessert or their favorite drink and by the end of the night, my house is filled with sweets and empty bottles. Such a blast.
But the Memorial BBQ is family friendly – the kids LOVE this one because there’s so much for them to do. I’m talking bouncy houses, clowns, cotton candy machines, arcade games, toy bins and photo booths!
Of course I had to get in the photo booth with Caleb — it was his first time. LOL. He didn’t know where to look which I thought was so sweet.
I know we have a few more weeks left until the official start of summer, but I am just going to pretend it started this weekend.
