This cream sauce for salmon recipe is filled with flavor and a great addition to make if you want to add pasta as a side dish. You can also serve this garlicky, buttery sauce on top of a bed of rice.

In order to get your salmon juicy and flaky, you must be careful to watch the temperature of your pan while sauteeing your fish.
Ingredients:
- 2 salmon filets, skin removed
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground sage
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup of milk or heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon flour
- cayenne pepper
- chopped fresh parsley
Directions:

Season filets with salt and pepper. Pour oil into a skillet and add filets. Heat on both sides, about 6 minutes each, until cooked through. Remove from pan and keep warm.

Add butter, onion, and garlic to the same skillet and heat for an additional 30 seconds. Stir in sage and Italian seasoning. Mix well. Add broth and boil, reducing the liquid by at least half. Add cream, salt, pepper, and flour and heat for an additional 5 minutes or until bubbly and thick.

Add salmon to pan and coat with sauce. Heat for 2-3 minutes. Serve topped with cayenne pepper and chopped fresh parsley.

Tips and Variations
- If you want a healthier version of this dish, be sure to use milk instead of heavy cream. This is why I included both options in the instructions. You can also choose 2% over whole milk.
- Including white wine adds additional flavor profiles; just make sure to cook the liquid down.
- Another favorite variation is including lemons while sauteing. The citrus flavors will elevate the dinner and change the bite entirely! You will love the taste of lemon garlic butter sauce for salmon.
- If you want to bake this dish, set your oven to 375 degrees and bake uncovered for 15 minutes. Prepare your sauce in a pan and pour over the cooked salmon when ready.
