We are a family always on the move – rushing from one rehearsal to the next. Trying to stay within a schedule and barely making it all. For Fat Tuesday, I thought to do some out of the ordinary. Something to spruce up dinner. We were having fried chicken after all! I’m starting a major food adjustment on Friday – so I needed a last meal before it all begins.
I ran to the store and I picked up some Mardi Gras supplies – very last minute. I was hoping that they would all be reduced in price since it was ACTUALLY Fat Tuesday. BUT NO LUCK. That’s ok. I paid full price (shudder) and moved on with my day.
When I got home, I dressed up Caleb first because he gets out of school earlier than the other two and he thought it was the most amazing thing! Masks and hats with bells? WHAT? Why don’t we do this every single afternoon?! 🙂
By the time dinner rolled around, everyone was in full swing. We had our beads on and our masks. People switched designs and laughed while they did. It was sort of hard to eat with the masks on – not going to lie. But we did it because that’s what starting a new family tradition feels like.
What did you do to celebrate Fat Tuesday? Anything special?
