Caleb’s 5th Birthday! I Can’t Believe We Are HERE Already

Our baby boy is 5 years old. I can’t believe it. Well, I can… but maybe I don’t want to. We spent the most wonderful day with our children celebrating our youngest on the 16th and now I can’t look at him without crying. Why? Because I remember him like this –>

That sweet face. That little body. That precious smell. Always snuggling in my arms. Always nestled in my robe and reaching for me and my warmth. The older they get … the more they don’t need us, right? Well, I guess that’s not actually the case. My daughter – who is 12 – needs me now more than ever. Just in a different way. We evolve – as humans, as parents, as time pushes on.

Back to the birthday.

Caleb’s birthday happened to fall on C DAY which really worked out. LOL. He wanted to bring in cookies and cupcakes. How could I tell him no? We brought in a few different varieties and got to see his class in action for the very first time. Super sweet. I walked around to each corner and soaked every section in. It was nice to get a glimpse of his little space.

Then we were able to bring in one of his favorite books and read it to the class. Naturally, he was trying to be a comedian and give commentary after every page that I read. Everyone laughed. Even I did from time to time. I think I need to buy this kid a mic because he is always on. Wonder who he takes after??????

After school, he played a bit outside with some friends and then we ate our way through Friday. Ice cream all day long!

And you know he didn’t complain!

Here’s a quick look at the video we made using our Instagram stories fromt the big day. Not a lot going on but I couldn’t just delete these precious memories. 50 years from now, I know I’m going to want to look back at that smushy little face.
