This easy BBQ baked beans recipe with bacon is the perfect side dish to make for your upcoming cookout. If I am being honest with you, beans are something I always put out as an option because they are simple, delicious, and hearty.
My husband usually spends hours in front of the grill – working all day and sweating it out under the sun. But I am in charge of the side dishes back on the stove.
Homemade baked beans always pass the family taste test and they make great leftovers, too. A double bonus if you ask me!
Easy baked beans are ones that you don’t have to hover over and watch! I have plenty of other pots and pans to worry about right before company heads in.
So, I usually put them in the oven before the show starts and leave them alone. Here’s everything you will need to get your barbeque beans rolling.
I just want to note – we included bacon in this recipe, but you could absolutely omit that ingredient if you have any vegetarians.
My daughter does not eat a lot of meat and so we typically do not include bacon when we make this dish for just our party of five. It tastes just as good on its own.

Are BBQ Baked Beans Healthy?
Baked beans are actually high in protein, fiber, and other nutrients. But as you can see in this recipe, we have added a lot of sugar.
You will find sugar in all of the sauces. It’s not only the brown sugar that I am talking about. So, while baked beans as a standalone are actually quite healthy, the way this particular dish is prepared makes it high in carbs and sugar for sure.
What Should I Serve With BBQ Baked Beans?
You can serve corn, coleslaw, pasta salad, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, chicken, cornbread, and more! Whatever you’d typically serve in a BBQ would be a perfect partner for these easy baked beans.
Can You Have Baked Beans For Breakfast?
Absolutely! In fact, I hope you do! Pair the leftovers with a side of eggs and a few slices of steak. Enjoy! Others like to top of some white rice with a heaping of beans. Whatever way you’d like to prepare it works.
