The summer is HERE. Well, not really. We just got into spring. I know. I’m pushing it. I KNOW. After the winter we just had, can you blame me?! I just want to go to the BEACH. Is that so wrong?!
Nothing beats a great day of just laying out and hitting the waves. But we have to be careful and protect ourselves from the elements. Here’s some beauty tips to help keep your precious locks looking lavish and healthy – even after a few dips in the pool.
8 Summer Hair Care Tips
#1 Soak your hair in regular water (via a shower) before jumping in the pool / ocean. You have to saturate your follicles and FILL them before you get them wet with pool /ocean water that can be damaging. Trust me this works!
#2 Wash your hair with shampoo that is created to remove chlorine if you do decide to hit the pool. I use UltraSwim on both my hair and the kids’ hair all summer long. The brand has a conditioner line as well!
#3 Don’t wash your hair every day. Go a few days to let the natural oils do their magic. If you need to wear your hair down, consider a dry shampoo like Pantene Pro-V Root Reboot.
#4 Let your hair air dry naturally when you don’t have to style it. The summer is all about heat which means when you can avoid the extra exposure … you should!
#5 Eat healthy! Yes! What you put inside your body actually affects your skin and hair. The summer is the perfect time to start trying juicing or smoothies. The greener the better. 🙂
#6 Did you know there are products out there that include SPF for your hair? Amazing, right? For those long days at the beach, be sure to bring products like L’Oreal EverPure UV Protect Spray along for the ride.
#7 Your face needs a good mask every now and then and so does your hair. ESPECIALLY during the summer. I love the Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Deep Conditioning Shine Mask. It’s priced right and works like magic.
#8 Find a routine! Do all of these things but don’t do them just once. Be sure to add them into your lives a few times a week.
