Field Report: Son Jung Wan Fall/Winter 2013 #NYFW #MBFW

Son Jung Wan 1

Son Jung Wan exhibited her greatly anticipated Fall/Winter 2013 Collection at The Studio on Saturday. The “Dynamic Romance” collection was inspired by two Russian greats, Kandinsky and Catherine Palace. For Son Jung Wan’s fifth season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, she thrilled her audience with runway eye candy so stunning, even front-row attendee Brooke Shields looked on in awe.

The collection offers high fashion for every occasion. Easily identified were threads for a stroll down Madison Avenue, an elegant black tie affair, a (stylish) day at the office, and everything in between. The usual autumn suspects were present, covering fall colors like beige, charcoal, mocha, and nudes, while punching up the neutral palette with dark violet, metallics, teal, burgundy, maroon, and turquoise. Wide sleeves enhanced the collection but by no means dominated it, as all forms were artfully explored.

High-waisted pants and tweed coats were executed with form-flattering precision, as evening wear exuded femininity, flow, and delicate grace. Pleated mesh gowns made for a magical addition to this enamoring collection.

Son Jung Wan didn’t leave out the men either– vests, blazers, and smoking jackets graced the runway, occasionally with a fur accessory.

Being my second season with Son Jung Wan at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, I was excited to convey my adoration for yet another successful design season. The lovely and talented Son Jung Wan herself was kind enough to pose with me for a photograph, and lend sincere appreciation for the marveling reception from her audience.
