A Day Out With Thomas – ‘Thomas The Train’ Adventure With The Kids

A Day Out With Thomas is a special event that allows children and their families to meet and ride with Thomas the Tank Engine. It is a day filled with fun activities for everyone to enjoy.

A day out with Thomas

A few weeks ago I learned there was this HUGE ‘Thomas the Train’ festival going on in Kentucky. I ran to my husband and convinced him that we needed to fly the kids out there because Liam is SUCH a fan of the show. Luckily, we found the SAME festival happens all around the country and one was scheduled for this weekend in Connecticut.

Needless to say,  our trip to Kentucky was canceled. LOL!! Either way – we made it there and I was SO HAPPY that we did. The trip was a few hours long (thanks to a massive rainstorm and two lanes being shut down on the Throgs Neck Bridge) but it was so worth it.

  • And much more!

Is there a real-life Thomas the Train?

Yes! Thomas the Tank Engine is a real life steam locomotive that was built in 1948. He has been entertaining children for generations and continues to do so today. At the festival, you will have a chance to ride a replica. It is really exciting for the children.

You can see that we took a photo from the distance. If you’d like to take a photo right in front, you will have to pay an additional fee. Your official heads up.

The tickets were $18 each and that gave you access to the entire fair. There were rides, balloon clowns, magicians, shows, trains to climb on, ‘Thomas the Train’ play areas –  etc. Lots of fun for a pretty good price. All the rides were included in your ticket price. So the kids got to go on them over and over again. The only thing that wasn’t included was food and drink.

The actual ride was about 25 minutes long. They played Thomas over the loud speaker and the kids really believed they were riding one of their favorite cartoons. It was so sweet to watch.

After tattoos and face painting we headed out to the fair where we hung out for about 2 hours. There really wasn’t that many people there because of the bad weather (which cleared up as SOON as we got there).

Naturally, Bill made me stop in New Cannan on our way home. He had to sneak in a side road trip towards the end of the day. LOL! But that’s my husband. When we got home the kids played with all of their stuff and then passed out with smiles on their faces. It really was a great weekend trip. We can wait for our next day out with Thomas! The Thomas the Train festival is NOT to be missed.
