Started A Gaming YouTube Channel With My Son: His Life Is Now Complete

Sweeney Gaming Squad Youtube Channel

My son, Liam, has been BEGGING me to start a gaming YouTube channel for him forEVER. I mean…ages. Since he was 5 years old, AT LEAST. Honestly, I had no clue how to do it. I always wondered how those kids online figured out how to record their gaming sessions.

If you don’t know this by now, I am a gaming fanatic. I’ve been this way since I was 8 or 9 years old myself. I’ve owned every console to ever hit the market… ever. So, I’ve PERSONALLY wanted to do for a few years too. I think it’s so COOOOOOLLLLLLLL. No, I don’t fit the mold. Yes, I will break it in half. It’s who I am.

I game while wearing red lipstick and heels… and I will beat every smelly boy in the room too. 🙂

My tastes in games have changed as I age. I can no longer World of Warcraft it because I don’t have 6 hours a day to dedicate to my obsession. Now, I turn more to apps because I can play them whenever I have 5 minutes to spare. Being a mom has changed things a bit. But it’s all good because I can still get my fix in! I just do it differently.

My son finally got his wish! On Sunday, we started a family gaming channel on YouTube thanks to my cousin and her boyfriend.  They did some magic and they set us up and now we can record app games and PS4 games. WHAT?! So excited.

We don’t know how to record audio JUST YET – but we are getting there. Small steps!! Super excited. Cannot wait to get this party going in full swing. So, when we aren’t spending time on our Nintendo Labo Kit or working through some of our favorite board games for kids, we are online recording all the things!

On the first day, we uploaded 16 videos or so. We were MANIC. I had to actually STOP Liam (and me) from uploading anymore because we were getting psychotic.

Now, I have us on a little bit of a schedule. I’m trying to keep it to about three videos a day. Hopefully, he won’t go above and beyond that. But it’s SO EASY to upload with the PS4 and he just does it without me knowing about it. LOL

Whatever – he’s having a good time. No, a great time! Spending time with him on this new adventure is one of the many reason I love being a mom
