Shirley Temple Recipe

Over the weekend, my family attended a Communion party and both of my children went bananas over the Shirley Temple. I’m telling you… the kids were just lined in front of the bar – about 10 deep – getting refills and stocking up on handfuls of cherries! It was the sweetest thing.

Shirley Temple Recipe

We all know that the Shirley Temple is a sugary, sweet adventure. So, it’s not something I would serve on a regular basis. However, we always let the kids order one when we are out at a restaurant or a family function. Nothing reminds me of my childhood more!

So, if you want to make this drink for your little ones, here’s an easy recipe to follow.

Ingredients:

  • 7-Up or Sprite
  • Maraschino Cherries

Directions

Fill a cup with your choice of soda and a handful of ice. Drop in a few cherries and drizzle in some juice from the Maraschino Cherry jar. You can just pour it right in.

Fill two glasses about halfway with ice and put four cherries in each (REAL cherries). Be sure to take the pits out before you do. In a pitcher, mix 1 1/2 cups seltzer and 1/4 cup cherry juice. Pour seltzer mixture into glasses and enjoy!! Real confession – your children will give you a little pushback when you make this version for them the first time. Give them a few sips and then they will get used to it. I promise.
