I went for the fashion. I did! I went for the fashion and saw LOTs of men in underwear. Parke & Ronen is a mens swimwear brand so, really, I should have been prepared. For their debut at New York Fashion Week, Parke & Ronen decided they wanted to be more than a swimwear brand. They want to help men transition from the beach/ pool to the streets and possibly the office. They were definitely successful in this endeavor.
The inspiration for the collection was Spain. This was evident in the sensually happy prints seen on some swim trunks and shorts. I loved the use of turquoise and bright yellow with regular plaid. The combination looked effortlessly cool, like a man who was born knowing what looks good on him and dresses impeccably with no extra effort, at all. One of my favorite items was a tangerine blazer. Paired with shorts, this is evening attire for surfers. Color on men’s blazers are not a frequent occurrence and I liked that Parke & Ronen went there, challenging their man to up the interest at the office, even. I love that scrunched sleeves are still a thing of the present. For the finale, the male models strutted out in white vests with flowers on the chest and bare feet.
I liked the vibe of this collection. The clothes were easy. They look easy to wear and are easy on the eyes. Parke & Ronen is for the man who is ready to look good but not let everyone know he is trying. Well done, guys!
