It’s The Little Things That Count: 3 Hotel Brands That Pleasantly Surprised Me

Sure, we all expect clean towels, plush beds and blackout shades while booking vacations for our family. The bar is set pretty high when you travel as frequently as I do. But it’s the little details that make the biggest impressions, right? Here is a recap of three recent experiences that make me want to book with these brands once again on future trips.

Last weekend, while attending the Family Travel conference, I had the opportunity to stay at the Omni Berkshire Hotel in NYC. Not only was the property conveniently located next to… everything… but the rooms were unusually large for Manhattan. PLUS one of their services catered specifically to the family.  After checking in, I received the Omni Sensational Kids package – a bag filled with crayons, little toys and some snacks. It’s just what a mom needs to keep her kids entertained while getting situated in the hotel room.

We all could use a few extra minutes to unpack, right?

Earlier this month, I flew down to Miami with P&G and stayed at The Raleigh. Don’t get me started on their pool… ahhhh-mazing. When I opened my door, I was greeted by classical music and a live orchid plant. No really, live flowers. But wait – that’s not all.

I unpacked, showered and headed out with friends for the day. When I returned, my bed was turned down, shades drawn, towels were replaced (on the first day of my visit – LOVED THAT) and a tiny candle was lit in a jar. Talk about setting the atmosphere to help a guest unwind!!

And while this amenity wasn’t found in my room, I LOVED that the St. Regis in Puerto Rico offers BASKETS of toys for children to use at the beach. You never remember to pack these things while away. SO, when my family found that these were waiting for us by our towels, we just about jumped for joy.

What are some things that you’ve enjoyed from hotel brands?
