Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Movie Review And Premiere Experience #GOTGVol2Event #GuardiansoftheGalaxy2

Last week, I flew out to LA to attend the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 premiere with 25 friends.

Last week, I flew out to LA to attend the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 premiere with 25 friends. I’ve walked several red (I mean purple) carpets in the past, but this one was my absolute favorite. The GOTG franchise is unbeatable, epic, powerful and unforgiving. It takes a hold of you and then sucks you right in. Every character simply becomes your best friend… even the ones that you once thought were your enemies.

Me and my 25 friends at Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Listen, I know this is a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 review post and you are getting nervous. Is she going to spoil anything? Let me set your mind at ease. No, I’m not.

I LITERALLY HATE PEOPLE WHO SPOIL MOVIES.

I wish death upon them. A bit dramatic I know, but as an avid movie lover, it PAINS me to stumble upon details of an ending or a pinnacle moment. I want all of you to walk into the theatre and watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with fresh eyes and ears  – with a clear mind. See it just as I did – with only the trailer as my guide.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Review

What can I tell you in this Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 review? PLENTY.

Drax the Destroyer steals the show. He also steals your heart. I think I cried the hardest because of him. And I cried about 6 times during Guardians of the Galaxy 2. But his scene with Mantis – you will know the one – had me rolled up in a ball and migraine sobbing in the worst way. He is an amazing actor and an incredible man. We then had a chance to interview Michael the very next day. Stay tuned for tidbits from that incredible conversation.

I liked GOTG Vol. 2 MORE than the first one.

I didn’t think that was humanly possible, but it is TRUE. There was more of everything. Yes, you will get all the action and the fighting and the CGI – turned up a notch or 100!! But that’s not why I liked it more. I liked this movie better than the first because the storyline was much more complicated. The pill was harder to swallow. The characters became more flawed. Your facts became opinions. Confusion set in. I began to root for someone I never thought I would. In fact, I hope she gets a spin-off!!!

The purpose of a movie is to take you away from your current day and life. This one didn’t quite do that for me because my father isn’t in my life. My father is alive… I am sure. At least, that’s what I heard last. And I suppose in some way, in my heart of hearts, I hold onto a fantasy that there is another version of him out there somewhere – a better version – just waiting to find me. But in the end, the reality of my life is what it is.

Watching this movie unfold was … hard. I’m not Starlord. I wasn’t abandoned at birth. Fortunately, I know who my father is… but he is long gone. I related to the moments of fantasy that played out. I won’t say more. Of course, I related to the thing that all humans do – the way we twist our realities and only see them the way we want to. I related to the excuses to the blindness to the justifications to the false hopes to the dream. Perhaps I cried a bit more than others in the theatre… but for my own reasons. Either way, I just loved the way the movie ended. I loved the way we were brought through the arc. I loved the way the movie showed that family matters – your real family.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Movie Review

And so, my message to you is clear. Go and see Guardians of the Galaxy 2. You will be surprised at how much you laugh and then cry – they really outdid themselves. I was totally invested in everyone’s storyline and I mean everyone’s storyline!!! You say goodbye to some people and you are introduced to new Guardians. Then of course… there’s that dude at the end that gives you an idea of what Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is going to be all about. Comic book fans, you will be VERY HAPPY!
