What a day. What a wonderful day! The Fashion Forward Conference took place in NYC yesterday afternoon at 404 and boy did we have a great time. Not only was the room filled with an amazing group of social media mavens but we had the opportunity to listen to some powerful players from the fashion industry and beyond.
My partners – Audrey McClelland (Mom Generations), Nicole Feliciano (Mom Trends), Brooke Stewart (Power Moms Media) – and I spent about 6 months putting this conference together and we are so happy we did because the turn out was amazing! We had three great panels, two fashion shows that wowed the crowd and several floors filled with brands looking to build relationships with the group.
Nowadays, everyone is online. Social media is a MUST in my line of work and odds are… in yours too. The fashion industry is no different. The Fashion Forward Conference’s purpose is to bring social media and style together in one place in a fun and informative way.
“Workaholic” is not a dirty word.
When she said that I almost cried. I live in a town where the vast majority of the women don’t work. I am the minority to say the least. So, I let out a huge sigh when Rosie said that because sometimes I feel like I have a bad addiction. I love my job!! And at that moment I was reminded that it’s ok to feel that way.
Phillip Bloch was our fashion expert. He sat on our Trendsetter panel and offered up style advice for the season. I had the pleasure of meeting him over the summer in Disney while at a conference with Hanes. So, I was honored that he agreed to come on board and work with us on the Fashion Forward Conference. My favorite tip from Phillip?
Know the trends. But know what works on you BEST.
Words to literally live by!!!
Last but not least we had Countess LuAnn de Lesseps from the Real Housewives of NY sit on our Business panel. She is coming out with an amazing tableware line that we had the pleasure of displaying during the Fashion Forward Conference. She talked about what her brand looks for when partnering up with bloggers and gave us a look into how she got where she is today!
Raina Seitel thankfully managed to squeeze us into her super busy Fashion Week schedule and walked in our runway show. She wore an amazing dress from Maggy London.
Speaking of our fashion show – we had 22 amazing social media mavens walk the walk and they looked amazing!! Here’s a peek at some of the looks. Hair was done by Sarah Potempa and makeup was done by Kim Baker. Our backstage helpers were simply the BEST.
I mentioned earlier that we had several panels throughout the day. I moderated the “Powerhouse Players” panel. We were lucky enough to get amazing tips from experts in the social media space. I bow down to Liz Gumbinner (Cool Mom Picks) , Danielle Smith (Extraordinary Mommy), Melisa Fluhr (Project Nursery) and Yuli Ziv.
Our sponsors were the glue that held the entire event together! I cannot thank them enough. The attendees were able to get to know each and every one of them in between panels and fashion shows. Business cards were exchanged and relationships were formed. Can’t wait to see what comes out of this day for the people within our community.
