Ok… let’s talk Geocaching! Have you ever done one of these adventures? It’s a game of discovery! A way to get the kids outside, running around and exploring their city. The entire family headed to Flushing Meadow Park in Queens and participated in a Geocache quest for Earth to Echo – the new summer family adventure movie that follows Tuck, Munch and Alex who go on an adventure of their own.
The Earth to Echo Geocache Adventures are available in four cities:
- New York: https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/echogeocachingny
- Los Angeles: https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/echogeocachingla
- Chicago: https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/echogeocachingchi
- Seattle: https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/echogeocachingsea
So how does this work? Basically – you click on one of the above links and log into the system with your phone. It finds your location and then off you go on a scavenger hunt. You are looking for clues to solve a puzzle. The phone will guide you LITERALLY with an arrow. All you have to do is walk in the direction of the arrow.
Do you have children that are glued to their XBOX games and iPads? Well, this is a really fun way to get them outside because it’s not just having them walk in the park. It’s having them walk around with PURPOSE. My kids were on a MISSION!
Every time you found your answer, you got to submit it on the phone and then unlock a special Earth to Echo video. Yes! You got to watch scenes from the movie. So fun!! You also received your next clue or task. The NY Earth to Echo GeoCaching Adventure had 4 FINDS.
I let the kids take turns navigating. They led the way. We quietly followed.
At the end of the adventure, you receive a badge. The more geocaching adventures you do, the more badges you collect. I can see how families can become obsessed with these!! My kids are already asking for the next one. LOL!
About Earth to Echo:
