Daily Diary: Waiting On My Gestational Diabetes Fasting Test Results

I really don’t need to hear these results. I took that darn 3 hours fasting test for insurance purposes only. I KNOW I have it full blown. I’ve had gestational diabetes before. I failed the first test. I feel funky when I eat too many carbs (my doctor doesn’t believe this but I do). It is what it is.

Despite the fact that I’ve only gained 20 pounds so far (at 30+ weeks) I believe that me being in the 150s is WAY past my body’s breaking point. I’ve accepted the horror… reluctantly.

I find out the results either tomorrow or Wednesday. UGH! At least my doctor let me enjoy Christmas and Christmas Eve. She postponed my fasting test until AFTER the holidays. MUCH APPRECIATED.

While in the office, the nurse kept missing my veins. She missed either 3 or 4 times. Eventually, she had to bring in another nurse. They did like 6 needle inserts in my left arm because they couldn’t find anything in my right. I was trying not to freak out. I don’t faint or anything with needles – I’m normally really good with injections. BUT to have a needle hit the same spot over and over again had me really on edge.

They told me it was ok to do it – and so I believed them.

I will keep you posted on the results. Though… like I said… we know the results right now. 🙂

You are not alone. I am 57 and when I eat too many carbs I feel awful. I don’t eat many now.
This is no fun for you to go through. So sorry. Did they use a butterfly needle? Might have helped.
