Daily Diary: Thanksgiving On Bed Rest (Wasn’t Half Bad!)

I was pretty bummed about missing out on my family’s Thanksgiving dinner. I really wanted my children to spend some time with their cousins – people they see maybe 2-3x a year. But what could we do? We were “stuck” at home. But it all worked out in the end. Always does, right?

We also were invited to a private viewing party right on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade route. It looked awesome. A brand rented a space and invited a handful of bloggers with their families to watch the parade live (WHILE BEING WARM). We declined of course – but next year… WE ARE SO THERE.

Bill found old trays (praise Jesus!!) in our basement. So, the kids were able to eat in the bedroom with me without having to actually be on the bed. If that’s wasn’t the best present I received all year… I don’t know what would be. LOL

I told Bill we should have an antipasta for lunch since we were going to eat so much that night. He ran to Fairway (without coupons – don’t get me started) and picked up everything he needed for the meal.

The kids got comfortable and we enjoyed our first meal. THEN Bill went to work on that turkey. He opted for a 3 pound breast instead of an entire bird. He ended up getting this rub from Fairway…. holy hell it was awesome. I told him when I feel better, I’m going to make this meal AGAIN with that RUB. YUM!!

Natalie put on lots of makeup and jewelry  – over and over again. She also changed into 4 different Halloween costumes. Whatever works!!

Then the meal. You think I was kidding about Bill rocking it in the kitchen. I think it was the best turkey I ever ate!! I can’t remember a better one. My goodness!! One of my neighbors made us homemade applesauce and of course I have a BOWL of cranberry jelly right next to my plate. It was WONDERFUL!!!

We have so many leftovers. I am absolutely looking forward to dinner tonight!

How was your Thanksgiving??
