Daily Diary: Loving The Downtime

2012 has been a very busy year. It’s all good stuff – so I’m not complaining, but the last 6 weeks or so were trying for my family. My children got the short end of the stick and now that things have sort of stabilized, I’m making the most of my time with them.

Our nighttime routine is my absolute favorite. After dinner, the kids watch a bit of TV and then we head over to my bedroom to read books and wrestle with Dad.

I don’t wrestle with Dad. I sit and watch praying that my children don’t get broken in half. Bill can get a little nuts with them and I’m just not used to that. I didn’t have that sort of rough play with my parents – but my kids LOVE IT. And I mean LLLLOOOOOVVVVEEEEE IIIIIIITTTTTT.

It’s a good 45 minutes of mayhem. After Bill dropped the kids on the bed to tickle them, I snapped this picture and I think it’s just perfect. They were screaming and laughing and red in the face and I was just soaking it all in.

This is what it’s all about.

This is awesome! My daughter and I have snuggle time. She is 11, and I know it won't last much longer, so, I'll relish it as long as she allows it.

Your picture is absolute perfection of that time together with the kiddos!

I love your bedtime routine. I have teens now, and totally miss it. We did some major wrassling in our time. Visiting from Blogger Comment Club, and glad I came :)

So sweet. My kids do this with their dad on the floor while I sit on the sofa and say, "Someone's going to get hurt." Eventually I'm proved correct and they stop.
