Celebrating The End Of Summer With Friends #AlamoDriveHappy

We are in the sunset of summer! I can’t believe it but it’s all behind us right now. Time flies when you are making memories, right? I invited three families over for some great conversation and food and we had a chance to talk about what travel means to all of us and our children.

In a few days, I’m actually going to be setting sail with two of these families! Our children don’t know it yet – it’s a complete surprise. We like to make the most of vacations and surprises always work best!

Alamo asked my friends for tips on how they go “beyond the basics” when it comes to travel. What do they do that steps things up a notch when it’s vacation time? I’m so happy to say that I have some really creative friends! Alamo Drive Happy Party Alamo Drive Happy Party

Before I get into all of that, I will say a party with friends really can go a long way! End of the Summer bashes are a GREAT way to say goodbye to unscheduled times and to welcome back the school routine. We played around with some decorations, played outdoor sports and use photo props on the kids. They had a blast !

Sunglasses and snacks were also a big hit!

PS – if you aren’t a big decorator, here’s my tip – hang streamers along a walkway. It’s the easiest thing to do and the kids will instantly feel like they are in a party! Alamo Drive Happy Party Alamo Drive Happy Party

Some parents were taking International trips for the very first time with their little ones. Other parents purchased fun t shirts that coordinated each family member’s look for a great photo opp. And of course, you can’t beat the tried and true spreadsheet! You want to make the most out of your vacation hours? Schedule them down to a T! HA! (That’s my friend Kim — we are going away together and I have a printed spreadsheet of my schedule that will make an Excel master weep) Alamo Drive Happy Party

Most were really just looking to make memories with their little ones. Keith decided to spend a full month in Nantucket with his family. That’s more than double the time he’s used to spending. It was all about slowing things down, unplugging and reconnecting on a very personal level. This is something every family should do. Alamo Drive Happy Party

While the kids played outside, I gave the parents their Alamo gift bags! They were so happy to see the travel goodies that were waiting for them! Alamo Drive Happy Party

Alamo Drive Happy Party Alamo Drive Happy PartyI can’t thank Alamo ENOUGH for allowing me to put this party together! Travel is SUCH an important part of my life and I want to make sure that my children grow up feeling the same way. We only have one life to live. I want to make sure I’m doing it with my family by my side seeing the world.

Do you have any upcoming travel plans you’d like to share? Would love to hear!
