There’s something magical about arriving at a resort and immediately feeling like you’ve stepped into a slice of paradise. That was precisely my experience at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico—a beachfront oasis with lush tropical gardens, stunning ocean views, and a rich history that makes it a must-visit.
Last year, I won a contest that provided me a three-night stay at the hotel. Here’s a full breakdown of what we experienced.

Whether you’re planning a girls’ getaway, a solo escape, or a well-deserved break from the every day, this classic and iconic resort offers a blend of relaxation, indulgence, and adventure.

Let’s Talk About the Restaurants (Because Food is Everything)
One of the best parts of staying at Caribe Hilton? You don’t have to leave the property to eat well. There’s a restaurant for every craving, from casual poolside bites to refined dining experiences.
- Morton’s The Steakhouse – If you’re celebrating something special or just in the mood for a perfectly cooked filet mignon, this classic steakhouse delivers. The service is top-notch, and the wine list is impressive. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but sometimes, a girl just needs a good steak and a glass of red.
- Rustica Ristorante – Italian food lovers, this is your spot. The pasta is fresh, the sauces are rich, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. Their seafood dishes are a standout—because if you’re in Puerto Rico, you have to indulge in the freshest seafood possible.
- Caribar & Caribar Terrace – This is where the famous Piña Colada was born, so of course, you have to order one. It’s creamy, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet. Pair it with a plate of tapas, sit outside, and enjoy the ocean breeze.
- Néctar del Caribe – Breakfast is a must here. They have a great buffet with everything from tropical fruit to made-to-order omelets. I’m a sucker for a good hotel breakfast, and this one did not disappoint.
- Bagua – If you’re lounging by the pool (which you absolutely should be), this is where you grab a casual bite. Their fish tacos? 10/10.
I also want to note that there is a Starbucks on property, as well as several restaurants right across the street.

The Pool & Beach Vibes
Okay, let’s talk about what truly makes this property work —the pool and beach access. Caribe Hilton has both fronts – something you can’t really find so close to Old San Juan.

The multi-tiered pool area is spacious, with plenty of lounge chairs (yes, even during peak hours). I never felt like I had to fight for a spot, which is a massive win in my book. If you want to go full relaxation mode, the hammocks strung between palm trees are the perfect nap spot.

The private beach cove is what sets Caribe Hilton apart from other hotels in San Juan. The water is calm, crystal-clear, and swimmable—something you don’t always get in the area. Whether you’re wading in the water, snorkeling, or just soaking up the sun with a good book, it’s pure bliss.
Kids were also fishing throughout the day! And you would also see families snorkeling. So, there was a lot of action in that water.

What’s Near the Caribe Hilton? Exploring San Juan
One of the best things about staying at Caribe Hilton is that while it feels like a secluded resort, you’re still close to everything. Whether you want history, nightlife, or shopping, you’re just a quick ride away from some of San Juan’s best attractions.

Old San Juan (About a 10-Minute Drive)
If you love history, colorful streets, and charming cafés, Old San Juan is a must-visit. You can wander the cobblestone streets, stop into local boutiques, or explore famous landmarks like:
- Castillo San Felipe del Morro & Castillo San Cristóbal – Two stunning forts with breathtaking views of the ocean.
- Paseo de la Princesa – A beautiful walking path along the water with stunning views and street vendors.
- La Fortaleza & Calle Fortaleza – Also known as the “Umbrella Street,” this spot is Instagram gold.
And, of course, if you’re a foodie, Old San Juan is packed with incredible restaurants serving everything from authentic Puerto Rican cuisine (think mofongo and fresh seafood) to trendy cocktail bars.
T-Mobile District (About a 5-Minute Drive)

For a more modern, high-energy vibe, head to the T-Mobile District, a vibrant entertainment complex with:
- Restaurants & Bars – From local eats to upscale dining, there’s plenty to choose from.
- Live Music & Events – If you want to catch a show or a concert, check the schedule—there’s always something happening.
- A Giant LED Screen Plaza – Think Times Square vibes but in San Juan. It’s a great spot to grab a drink and take in the atmosphere.
Dining at the T-Mobile District
Here are some notable restaurants you might want to explore:
- La Central by Mario Pagán : A modern tropical steakhouse inspired by Puerto Rican cuisine, emphasizing flavors from the grill, sugarcane, and rum.
- Barullo Taberna Española – A Spanish tavern offering a casual dining experience with a variety of traditional dishes.
- Sazón Cocina Criolla DTMO – Specializing in Puerto Rican cuisine, this restaurant offers authentic local flavors.
- Denko Asian Eatery – An Asian eatery offering a variety of dishes inspired by Eastern cuisines.
- Verbena Food Fair
A casual spot offering Caribbean street food and Puerto Rican specialties.

Overall Feel of the Hotel
This is one of those properties that blends history and modern luxury effortlessly. As one of the most famous hotels in Puerto Rico (and one of the first international Hiltons), it has a timeless charm. The lobby is open and airy and the service is consistently warm and welcoming—something I always appreciate.

Whether you’re here for a few days or a week, you’ll leave feeling refreshed, sun-kissed, and already planning your next trip back. With only three days away, I came back completely renewed.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely.
