Napa – I’ve been there before. Many moons ago, when I was a little duckling and in college, Bill and I headed to California for a trip to the wine country. Do you know what I remember about it? Hardly anything. It wasn’t planned at ALL. We winged the entire vacation and barely made a dent to what the region had to offer. There’s something to be said about planning ahead.
A Trip To Napa – Embassy Suites By Hilton Napa Valley
I was invited by Hilton to experience Napa and this trip was planned down to the last minute. The group joked because our “tour guides” kept a mini-binder with them at all times to ensure that they kept us on track. But because of their detailed itinerary, we were able to soak in all of the sunshine, wines and fresh food that one of the most beautiful regions of our Nation has to offer.
Honestly, If you are planning a trip to Napa – just do everything we did. I’m not kidding. It was PERFECT.
Farmstead Long Meadow Ranch In Napa
Our first stop after leaving San Francisco (be sure to click here to see an overview of that trip), was lunch at Farmstead. Long Meadow Ranch had beautiful grounds, a quaint little farmer’s market, an outside music concert and OF COURSE wine tasting. Guess what? I found my absolute favorite bottle of wine at this location. Ever. I mean from over the course of my life — this was my favorite bottle of wine.
Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc 2013
I bought one bottle for $20 and even looked online to see if I could get more… no LUCK. So UPSET about that! I am going to be on a mission to replenish. Who knows when I’m going to return to wine country?!
Embassy Suites By Hilton Napa Valley
Then it was time to check out our hotel – the Embassy Suites By Hilton Napa Valley. Hilton booked us into the Embassy Suites in Napa. This hotel was SO BEAUTIFUL. The grounds were unexpectedly charming. We enjoyed a tour of the grounds and had a chance to meet some of the local swans that have made the Embassy Suites their home.

Dining At Redd In Napa
Probably one of the best meals I had during my entire stay in California was from Redd. From appetizer to the main course to a delectable dessert – this was a 10 for SURE. Make reservations STAT at Redd and thank me later.
Spa time!! The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa treated the group to facials and massages. I opted for a facial specifically made for sensitive skin. It was so lovely and a few friends said they saw a noticeable difference in my skin once I was finished. I have rosacea and I also noted that my skin was less red after my treatment. I was so pleased!!
PS – did you hear about the DoubleTree cookies you get at check in? Apparently, they are AMAZING! Sort of upset I didn’t get to try them. LOL!!! I need to stay at a DoubleTree just so I can check them out. I keep thinking about them. I believe they are chocolate chip — which is my FAVORITE cookie. Great… now I want cookies. UGH.
Champagne Tasting At Domaine Chandon In Napa
Champagne tasting in the late morning! So fun. On day two – we headed to Domaine Chandon and took part in a tour /champagne tasting. It’s always interesting to learn the story behind the story. Champagne / sparkling wine is my favorite drink – so I was really looking forward to this one. We stayed for lunch at etoile and I devoured my vegetable pasta dish.
Grape Stomping At Grgich Hills Estate – Napa
And then there was this! Grape stomping at Grgich Hills Estate. COME ON! Once in a lifetime experience!! I was DYING. My friend and I of course did a little nod to I Love Lucy because… how can we not? See below.
I’ve watched this one trillion times. That is all.
Hall Wines – Napa
And then Hall Wines – the most visually appealing vineyard in Napa if you ask me. ART – EVERYWHERE. Art you could walk through. Art that lit up. Art in a distant. Art through water. Art in motion. Unbelievable. I loved it. And the wine was delicious as well.
I was able to try wine straight out of a barrel – a first for me.
I even ate a grape straight off the vine!!
