This weekend, my family and I headed to NYC to attend the Kids Food Festival on behalf of ConAgra Foods’ Child Hunger Ends Here program. This program was started to help bring awareness to food insecurity and child hunger in America. Nearly 16 million kids in America today are at risk of hunger—that’s enough to fill nearly 8,000 playgrounds. There’s a really easy way for you to get involved – from the comforts of your own home too! Just look for the red push pin and 8-digit code on specially marked packages of ConAgra Foods® brands at the grocery or in your pantry—and enter the code. More on that in a bit. For now – let’s talk about the Kids Food Festival at Bryant Park!
The festival was made specifically with families in mind. This isn’t a festival that just hands out pamphlets and hosts lectures. Oh no! As soon as we walked into Bryant Park, we were each offered a hotdog from Applegate. LOL! Works for me!
ConAgra Foods was one of the big sponsors from the day and they had a really creative craft for the kids to do. Each child that attended the Kids Food Fest was able to design their own bag using markers, stickers, glitter, stencils and more. The children were then asked to go home and fill these bags with food to donate to their local charities. ConAgra Foods provided information on how to start that process.
I loved how they asked the kids what their favorite food to share was too! Look at all those Post-It notes! Super cute idea! I might take that with me and use it for my next birthday party celebration!
Both Joshua and Gabe gave me a little look at what’s going on with their acting careers and told me how they got involved with the Kids Food Festival. Really fun kids!
A food festival wouldn’t be complete without some good eats, right? We snacked on some Cuties, homemade desserts and treats and even enjoyed some pulled pork over mac and cheese. Yes, you read that correctly. Total magic. And what a surprise!! The kids ran into “Oh” from the new movie, Home. Of course, we stopped for a picture. Between every stop there was information about how families can eat better or contribute to society in some way. I really enjoyed my time here! It was a great day out with the kids.
And the setting couldn’t be better. Bryant Park! In the winter, NYC sets up an ice skating rink right in the middle of it all. So the Kids Food Festival actually surrounded the rink. Lots of energy!!

There’s a few different ways you can get involved in ending Child Hunger. Visit the http://www.childhungerendshere.com/ website. You can enter codes on specially marked ConAgra Food packages on that website. For every code entered, ConAgra Foods will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America. How amazing is that?!
It’s REALLY easy to find the code too — all you have to do is flip your ConAgra Foods packages around and look at the back. All participating brands will have the Child Hunger code typed in this location.
How will you participate in this movement? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below or on Twitter.
