Ingredients

Taco Casserole Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1/2 green pepper diced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 can 10 oz, diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 3/4 cup salsa
  • 1 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 bag tortilla chips

Consider Toppings Such As:

  • Sour Cream
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Chopped Tomatoes
  • Chopped Avocado
  • Chopped Fresh Cilantro
  • Sliced Black Olives
  • Diced Jalapeno Peppers

Instructions

Taco Casserole Recipe Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9x13 pan.
  • Add garlic, onion, pepper and beef to a skillet. Brown meat and cook until onions are soft. Stir in cumin and salt and pepper.
  • Add tomatoes and salsa and heat on medium and boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until liquid is reduced by about half.
  • Layer half of the meat mixture into the bottom of prepared pan.
  • Top with crushed tortilla chips and half of the cheese. Repeat layer. Bake for 8-12 minutes or until hot.
  • Remove form oven and top with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, sour cream and chopped fresh cilantro before serving.
