Cracker Barrel Hash Brown Casserole Recipe Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Butter
  • ¼ Cup Flour
  • 1 can Chicken Broth
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 26 oz. Hash Browns frozen
  • 1 Onion diced
  • 8 oz. Colby Jack Cheese shredded
  • ½ tsp Pepper


Cracker Barrel Hash Brown Casserole Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350˚.
  • In a small sauce pan over medium low heat melt ¼ cup of butter and then whisk in the flour. Cook for 2 minutes while repeatedly whisking.
  • Turn up the heat to about a medium high flame and then slowly whisk in the chicken broth.
  • Slowly whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened.  Add the remaining ¼ cup of butter and stir until melted. Remove from heat.
  • In a large bowl, combine the hash browns, onion, cheese, and pepper.
  • Pour the milk mixture over the hash browns and toss to coat.
  • Pour the mixture into a lightly greased 13x9 inch baking dish and bake at 350˚ until bubbly and browned, 40-50 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
