Back to School and right back into a MUCH NEEDED routine! Don’t you just LOVE routine season??! I do!! Now that the kids are getting settled into their books, homework and schedules again, it’s time to teach them some after school habits as well.
The days can be crazy. We all know this. My children come barreling in through our front door like tornados at 3PM – 5 days a week. I pretty much stand outside like a gate preventing them from tearing through my newly cleaned kitchen on a regular basis. LOL!
We recently set some groundwork. My husband and I told them that this year, things were going to be different. We discussed three rules that have to happen RIGHT OFF THE SCHOOL BUS.
Let’s get right to them!
Rule Number 1: Hug Mom
Sorry. I missed you. Sorry. You’re still my kids. Sorry. This isn’t going to change. Maybe, I’ll take the hug indoors when you are in high school, but for now… I’ll meet you outside the house and you will hug me like you mean it! 🙂
Rule Number 2: Shoes Off
The children cannot run into the house with their friends and bring in dirt and mess and chaos. Take them off, leave them on the mat and it’s absolutely not debatable.
Rule Number 3: Clean Your Hands:
I keep a pump of PURELL right by my front door and the kids each know to clean their hands after they take off their backpack and shoes. I don’t want them to start snacking with school germs all over their hands! That’s just not ok! One pump goes a long way!
Besides, have you heard of the 30 Day Challenge? A study showed that using PURELL Advanced Hand Sanitizer three times a day for 30 days can help reduce the risk of spreading illness-causing germs.
