This quick turkey chili recipe will become a family favorite for you – I just know it. I love my crockpot. Don’t get me wrong. But sometimes I don’t always have the foresight to start making dinner 4-6 hours ahead of time. Life just gets in the way on most days. LOL!

I wish I was on top of it regularly, but that’s not always the case. Turkey chili is one of those recipes that you can make pretty quickly on your stove if you are in a pinch.  This Turkey Chili Recipe is filled with bold flavors and a variety of textures that will please any crowd.

If you don’t want to use ground turkey, you could absolutely substitute it out with ground chicken. The choice is yours! Here’s another SWAP option — if you can’t do hot, swap the “tomatoes with chilies” for just plain “diced tomatoes” and you will be good to go.

In the end, I want to make sure that you enjoy what you are eating and just because I post something that has a little kick to it, doesn’t mean that you have to eat it that way.

Quick Turkey Chili Recipe – Ingredients

  • 1lb ground turkey
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cans, 15 oz each, great northern beans or similar white beans
  • 1 can, 10 oz, tomatoes with green chilies
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • shredded cheddar cheese and chopped cilantro, optional for serving

In a large stock pot, add turkey and onion and heat until meat is browned. This should take you a few minutes. Stir frequently. 

Stir in remaining ingredients and mix well. Heat on medium high until boiling. Cover, reduce heat to simmer and cook for an additional 20 minutes. Serve with shredded cheddar cheese and chopped fresh cilantro if desired. Serves 4

With this quick chili recipe, you can swap out the meat as you choose. If you only have ground chicken on hand… or beef… go crazy and use what is in your fridge. No worries!

What Are The Best Beans To Use For Chili?

In this recipe, we featured a white bean, but again, you can use whatever you have on hand. Chili is very forgiving. If you don’t have any white beans on hand, consider cannellini beans, pinto beans, black beans, or navy beans. It all works! 

What Are Some Turkey Chili Toppings To Try?

We can have some fun in the toppings department! Consider avocado, sliced jalapeno, red onions, sour cream, or even shredded cheese. Naturally, fresh herbs always kick this dish up a notch.
