A few week ago, I had an American Girl themed play date for some of Natalie’s friends. My son has been asking for a dinosaur themed party ever since. I didn’t think he would really care … but he’s been persistent to say the least.
Well, yesterday three of his friends came over and I just put something quick together for them. Thought I’d post it here in case you have a little boy who would be into a prehistoric gathering.
First up – I didn’t have time to make cupcakes because it was so very last minute. I suggest you make cupcakes to save even more money. I ran out and bought a dozen Dunkin Donuts for $8.99.
Then I headed to Party City for the rest. I bought:
- Dinosaur plates – $2.75
- Dinosaur napkins – $2.17
- Dinosaur crayons – $2.99
- Toy Story Cake Toppers – $2.99
- Dinosaur table cloth – $3.45
Then I printed 4 coloring pages from the Internet – just used Google search for this. Made each kid a pile and topped the whole thing off with a T Rex Cut out. Forgive the sloppy cutting on my part – but the kids are 3 and 4. I figured they really wouldn’t notice.
All in I spent $23 and change. For food, I’m making pasta with butter. The pasta I actually got free from Stop and Shop when they were having a 10 for $10 sale and I have a $.50 off coupon (which they doubled).
I’m serving the boys lunch – but an after school play date usually doesn’t consist of a meal.
Cute. Great idea!
Super cute! And now I’m hungry for pasta with butter! LOL!
