First Look: Winifred Grace Fall 2010 Collection

Winifred Grace Gundeck recently showcased the Fall 2010 collection of her line, Winifred Grace, in NYC. Winifred Grace is a jewelry line created and designed by Winifred Grace Gundeck. The line was started in 2003 after Winnie realized that working in graphic design was a far cry from her dream of having a jewelry line. As a child, she hand made and sold barrettes in South Miami. She was inspired by the textures and movements of nature in its raw forms.

Her Fall collection includes heavy use of a particular type of brass box chain that makes the pieces susceptible to movement. Winnie used this box chain to design bracelets, chains and earrings. She enjoyed mixing this with oxidized silver and Swarovski crystals, Most of the pieces were designed to layer well with each other. Long pendants would go well with shorter chains. The combination of the silver and the brass lent a rustic feel to the collection.

Winnie also played with shapes to create interesting looks. She mixed balls of metal with cubes of silver. The chunky crystals were mixed with rosary-like beads for more versatile pieces. Earrings were also made from the box chain material. Pendants were added to the middle for added elegance.

I sneaked a peak at the Summer 2010 Collection and loved that Winnie focused on two main colors: royal blue and yellow. She continued the use of the box chain and created fun multi-strand necklaces and thin bracelets, perfect for stacking. I loved the sunburst necklaces with yellow and silver links extending outward from the necklace.
Both of these collections are soon to be available on Winnie’s site.
